I want a good high performance laptop which is portable and a very good battery life. In my earlier post on how to choose a laptop, I had given the points one should look for in deciding while buying a laptop. I have been doing a lot of research on the laptop that I desire but at the end of the day I have choose between weight of the laptop and price I pay where the configuration is equal.
SONY VAIO VPCEB3F4E/WI ticks all my requirement for a laptop.
- Dual-core Intel® Pentium® P6100 (2.0 GHz)
- Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
- Memory: 4GB
- 500GB
This laptop has lot of storage, excellent RAM and processor. But it has a battery life of upto 3 hours and weighs 2.7 kgs with price of £ 499. So when I am commuting, then it is useless to me and also I may get a back ache.
The other option is to go for a Netbook. This will help me to browse the internet, watch videos and read pdfs. However if I want to work on photos or videos, then it has its own limitations as it is not designed for it.
TOSHIBA Satellite R630 series are high powered laptops and it is portable. The weight of a netbook 1.4 kgs with battery life of 8 hours but priced at £640. Another laptop that is equally good is SAMSUNG NP-Q330-JA02UK for £599. Surprisingly, the reviews for Samsung laptops are very good. I under estimated the laptop earlier. But I would consider Samsung products since they are very good in HD TVs, mobile phones, tablet pc. You name it and they are there in electronics.
So it is a decision time. Is Samsung better than Toshiba ?
Finally I bought Toshiba R630 from IT247.com – authorised reseller of Toshiba. Now all other laptops feel heavy.
