In early part of last century, people tuned to radio for news. Later it was the age of the television. Then the 24 x 7 dedicated news channel with break news at the bottom of the TV screen of Sky news. This is the era of  Twitter.  

Probably a news medium that travels faster twitter than on TV and better than the news reporter. Straight from the people who are seeing it in action from their receptors (I mean eyes and ears), process the data and then type the information on their mobile phone. The message contains a word with a '#' so that people know it is a trending event.

The social networking goes buzz with '#' and people refresh their twittter screen. 20 tweets every 20 seconds. And the news becomes a breaking news and everyone gets an update as it happens.   Check the latest on Libya on Twitter.
