The town of Montreux nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. The Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place in June/July and features concerts on a variety of stages and parks is very famous.

A number of local trains leaving from Montreux station will take you to the nearby summits, offering panoramic views to Geneva, the Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn: the two most famous are the Montreux-Oberland Bernois (MOB) and the Montreux Crystal Panoramic Express. Steamboad cruises are available for those wishing to tour the Upper Lake and Chateau de Chillon.Montreux on the map

My eyes were wide open to admire the beauty of Montreux with mountains in the background . People were relaxed, enjoying the time and weather. I couldn’t help taking pictures of the lake, people and birds. The most beautiful sight was of sunlight falling on the lake and the water is glitters like gold.
