    Early life of Emma Watson

Emma Watson was born in Paris, the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson.  Watson has one French grandmother,  and lived in Paris until the age of five. Later, following her parents' divorce, she moved with her mother and younger brother, Alex, to Oxfordshire.

"I had no idea of the scale of the film series," she stated in a 2007 interview with Parade; "if I had I would have been completely overwhelmed.

Kites movie i want my paisa vapas

    ShareThis
Kites (New Hindi Film / Bollywood Movie / Indian Cinema CD)Film: Kites. Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut. A bleeding and bullet hit Jay (Hrithik Roshan), who is dressed like a matador, mysteriously rolls off the carriage of a train. After the bullet is removed and dunked into a glass of whiskey, the intense, bearded young man limps his way across a desert. A sweet, old gentleman shouts out something in Spanish. The subtitles (in Hindi) read ‘I hope you find your lost love.’ You know instantly that you are watching what maybe India’s first tri-lingual. One only wishes that they had tried harder.

In spite of a sharp and promising start Kites doesn’t fly. It’s a case of old wine in a new bottle, re-telling the classic Bollywood story of love against all odds and is replete with passionate lovers, menacing villains, singing and dancing and fighting and romancing.

The Vegas based Jay will do anything for money. We see him marry a dozen girls to get them a green card for hard cash. One day, he decides too woo the depressive but filthy rich Gina (Kangana Ranaut in yet another psycho-chick role). Jay and Gina win a dance competition (yes, Jay is also a dancer/choreographer) and not only does Jay have the curly haired girl swooning to his beat, he also charms her father Bob (Kabir Bedi). So impressed is Bob with the boys talents and his daughters gushing that he invites Jay to his sons engagement and treats him like family.

Vyasa: Do you know how to write ?
    Boy  : No
Vyasa: I have composed a great poem. I have composed it all but nothing is written. I need someone to write down what I know.
    Boy  : What's you name ?
    Vyasa: Vyasa
    Boy  : What's your poem about ?
    Vyasa: It's about You.
    Boy  : Me.
Vyasa: Yes. It is the story of your race. How your ancestors were born. How they grew. How vast war arose. It is the poetical history of mankind. If you listen carefully, at the end you will be someone else.

I saw few clips of the movie on You Tube. It is really powerful and  thought provoking.  I decided to buy the DVD from Amazon for a full experience. You must have noticed one thing in James Bond movie - it starts with action from the first scene. They spend lot of time and resource even for the movie titles.

The Ghost movie - a critical review

    ShareThis

    The Ghost

The Ghost, a Roman Polanksi movie is a film adaptation of the Robert Harris novel The Ghost.  I watched the movie yesterday and here is the plot.

When a successful British ghost writer(Ewan McGregor) agrees to complete the memoirs of former British Prime Minister Adam Lang(Pierce Brosnan), his agent assures him it's the opportunity of a lifetime. But the project seems doomed from the start—not least because his predecessor on the project, Lang's long-term aide, died in an accident. The ghostwriter flies out to work on the project, in the middle of winter, to an oceanfront house on an island off the U.S. Eastern seaboard. But the day he arrives, a former British cabinet minister accuses Lang of authorizing the illegal seizure of suspected terrorists and handing them over for torture by the CIA—a war crime.

The controversy brings reporters and protesters swarming to the island mansion where Lang is staying with his wife, Ruth(Olivia Williams), and his personal assistant (and mistress), Amelia (Kim Cattrall). As the ghostwriter works, he uncovers clues suggesting his predecessor may have stumbled on a dark secret linking Lang to the CIA—and that somehow this information is hidden in the manuscript he left behind.

    My Review

    • Underutilized Pearce Brosnan. The film is about him but you struggle to find him.
    • It is a cross of Angels and Demons and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Originally Nicolas Cage was to play the Ghost Writer
    • 128 minutes of entertainment followed by12 hours of analysis.

Dear John, a sentimental film set against American army background, autism and 9/11, broke quite a few records as it unseated Avatar in its eight week at the North American box office. Cast Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.
Plot: A romantic drama about a soldier who falls for a conservative college student while he's home on leave.

I watched Avatar movie in 3D. The computer graphics was really fantastic and very good. But while I watching the movie I felt movie Independence Day was much more engaging. May be because humans were fighting aliens !!! In Avatar - humans were aliens. So there was little less sympathy.

I watched the movie again in 2D i.e without one dimension. This time, I wanted to be involved with the story and see from director's point of view. But somehow I was not able to  feel the emotions of Navi's like how I felt for Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic

I like James Cameron movies but somehow I feel his action/drama movies are much better than sci-fi/alien ones.
