I am switching to buying milk in plastic bags from Sainsburys and going to improve my green credentials by reducing 75% of packaging.

•  Up-sell 

Upselling is a sales technique whereby a saleperson induces the customer  to purchase more expensive items, upgrades, or other add-ons in an attempt to make a more profitable sale. Upselling usually involves marketing more profitable services or products, but upselling can also be simply exposing the customer to other options he or she may not have considered previously.

The waitress will start with - Can I get you some drinks ? Then starters. Then when you ask whether you can use the offer voucher. She replies, "Of course".... It is big, loud, clear and with a smile.  You think, I have to make most of the offer. You start ordering more since at the back of your mind you have already made savings on the main course.

After you finish your food, the waitress asks, "Would you like to look at the dessert menu ?". You think and say, "Why not ?" And you order your dessert.

• Service with a smile

The waitress will serve you with a smile. You never realise. that you are paying  more  than what you  initially calculated since you are enjoying a perfect dining experience.

Finally, when I looked at my bill, I had made a savings of £ 7.00 but I ended up ordering a lot more than I initially thought. To be precise £8.95 + 10% tips.
