Man Woman Relationship in the 22nd Century

ShareThis
Women: A NovelEmancipation is a term used to describe various efforts to obtain equality and more often used to describe for the rights of women and under-privileged. I was reading  a news articles in the Guardian where Elisabeth Badinter says that the French model of motherhood is facing threat from a 'dangerous' new brand of thought which seeks to keep women at home. Ecologists, breastfeeding advocates and behavioural specialists are making women 'slave to their children', says Elisabeth Badinter.

And there was another news item where a vicar has caused outrage amongst his congregation after urging women to "be silent" and "submit" to their husbands.  One female member of the church said she was "disgusted" by Oden's sermon. "How can they talk that way in the 21st century?

So why not put a James Cameron hat and fast forward to the year 2154 and visualise what it would be like then. The objective would be to make people live to the full extent irrespective of their gender.
  • Human Husbandry: In the 21st century, there is a science called Animal Husbandry which focuses on stock breeding to raise live stocks. The science of animal husbandry is taught in many universities  and colleges  around the world.  In 22nd century, the science of human husbandry would take precedence over animals as there would be an effort to find technique to reproduce the best humans in the world using laboratory techniques.
  • Human Terms: Some of the terms may be know as 21st century terms. Like 'Parents' will be replaced by 'donors',  'home' will be 'cell', 'Maternity Ward' will be "Generation Next', 'Dinner' will be 'capsule diet' and  'family' will be 'environment'. The word 'love' would disappear and 'Valentine's Day' will only be a movie.
  • Full Life: In the 21st century, people mourn about the first half of their life being spoiled by parents and second half by their children. Or too much time and money is spent on Match.com or mothers have to sacrifice their careers to bring up their children. May be in the 22nd century, everything will be outsourced. The procreation activity will be outsourced. Government will make efforts to find the best 'donors', produce offsprings in the laboratories and raise them in 'generation next'. Men and Women will have personal freedom and time to pursue their own career and life in their own 'cells' without any responsibilities of being parents.
My visualisation is just a projection of how technology will be shaping the way we live and influence our behaviours. Live-in relationships have been accepted as the way of life  in the 21st century and the word 'bastard'  is widely considered pejorative, especially because of its informal meaning, which refers to 'people thought to be obnoxious'.
Elisabeth Badinter and Angus MacLeay, rector of St Nicholas Church are today on opposite sides of the spectrum but they don't take into account the impact technology will have on peoples' lives and relationships.

Nibbling fish provide foot therapy

ShareThis
Baby biOrb Aquarium with Halogen Light, Silver, 4 GallonsDoctor fish is the name given to two species of fish: Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus. Other nicknames include nibble fish, kangal fish, and doctorfishen; in non-medical contexts, Garra rufa is called the reddish log sucker.

They live and breed in the outdoor pools of some Turkish spas, where they feed on the skin of patients with psoriasis. The fish are like combfishes in that they only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow, with the outdoor location of the treatment bringing beneficial effects.

Top 20 health gurus in the UK - alternative medicine

ShareThis
Acupuncture for Everyone: What It Is, Why It Works, and How It Can Help YouA list of top 20 gurus was published on the Telegraph in year 2007. There are no tweets on the article and when you search for these gurus, there is little information. The article focuses on what they specialise on and their high end fees, but there are no comments from the readers whether their treatment actually benefited them.

Another concept that is sold to people is Holistic Medicine. According to Canadian Holistic Medical Association

Holistic medicine is a system of health care which fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health.

It emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, including analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values. It encompasses all stated modalities of diagnosis and treatment including drugs and surgery if no safe alternative exists. Holistic medicine focuses on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well being.

The holistic or alternative medicines are not cheap. Look at the fees, the top 20 gurus charge. These are 2007 rates, it may have gone up.

The top 20 gurus have their clinics in top London address. Nothing for a common man. So the patients who would be going for treatments with these practitioners  would be the ones who would be earning half a million a year. A £80 for half an hour session would be buying a Big Mac burger at McDonalds.

I would request the people who had taken treatments from above therapists, to write reviews on their treatments. Also comment whether you agree they are the top health gurus in the UK. Should you know someone who have been a patient of one the therapists, please share this blog post with them and encourage them to post their comments. Lets get enlightened.

Why women love Cosmo magazine and men read it

ShareThis
Cosmopolitan (1-year)Cosmopolitan is the most popular women's magazine on stands. They are the number 1 women's magazine for Fashion, Sex Advice, Dating tips and celebrity news. But what makes the glossy magazine  so popular among women and even men....

Sexuality : Cosmo magazine covers this topic like science or exploring Mars or finding water on the moon and narrates them as a journey which women have never experienced before. Although these topics have been documented in KS in 1400 BC, Cosmo gives an new insight to the ignorant women. E.g. in Jan 2010 UK issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the stories published are like scientific discoveries on Global warming.
  • Seven-Day Sex Master Class in just one week,
  • What goes through Men's mind ....
  • Make him fall in love with you in 90 minutes
  • Force of attraction - Are you one half of magnet couple
  • ..... Cosmo Commandments
Celebrities: Everyone has role models and an inner desire to be someone else. Working  and career oriented women have money but little time. So Cosmo provides them a way to experience them. E.g.
  • I want to have babies - Fergie's feeling bloody. (Hollywood ladies always talk about).
  • Centrefolds - We have not one but two gorgeous men for you - Hollyoaks.
  • My favourite New Year's Eve - Celebs share their best '10, nine, eight moments ...
Fashion: Talking to women on fashion is just like describing the Earth. The more the things change ....more it remains the same and women love to explore them.  At present, Earth orbits the Sun once for every roughly 366.26 times it rotates about its axis every 24 hours. The Earth's axis of rotation is tilted  23.4° away from the perpendicular  to its orbital plane  producing seasonal variations on the planet's surface and this has been happening from the conception of mankind. So is fashion !!! Cosmo has nice articles like
  • Dress to Impress .... Power-dress your way to promotion.
  • Fashion I want ... a super sexy clutch
  • 5 minutes to Foxy ... You need hours.. get glammed up in a tick.
  • Super Woman ... We've bent backwards to bring you vibrant style.
Living:  Women's worst nightmare .... weight around the waist. Cosmo may write a million articles  on this topic and every single article will be read. The popular headlines
  • Lose weight without dieting
  • The secret of being Happy - Rachel Weisz on why she feels so sexy.
  • Health news ... Celebrate your body
Pages of Advice: The two pages Cosmo magazine  that is inseparable part of Cosmo. Women love it and men read it.
  1. Cosmo Sex Coach
  2. Ask Irma - No non-sense advice.
The most famous Cosmo punchline with shows the contents of the magazine in shortest possible time  - How to find our Hot stories ....   That's what make Cosmo no 1 magazine in WomanSphere.

Milk in bags - How to drink it

ShareThis
Milk [Blu-ray]A Sainsbury's spokesperson  in 2007 said: "Milk is the biggest selling product by unit in Sainsbury's stores, with over 8 million litres sold every week. This is a revolution in milk packaging which potentially cuts waste by a massive 75 per cent. Milk in a bag is an incredibly simple way for families to reduce their environmental impact."

How boring !!!   Sainsburys should have made a commercials to popularise the concept.

Sheryl Ng "How Canadians drink milk " has become popular Digg.

In 2006, Ryan demonstrated Milk in the Bag on YouTube but it did not catch on.

I am switching to buying milk in plastic bags from Sainsburys and going to improve my green credentials by reducing 75% of packaging.

There is offer going on in Sainsbury buy 2 milk bags and get the jug for 80p.

Nando's Hot Peri-Peri Sauce 125mlNandos - taste of our famous flame grilled PERi-PERi-chicken.

What they say about PERi-PERi ?
Way back in the 15th Century in the rich soils and intense heat of South Africa, our Portuguese forefathers made a monumentally important discovery - the African Birds Eye Chilli.
And I like it and South Africans love it ....

The moment you enter Nandos, the waiter asks you "Have you been to Nandos before ? " If your answer "No", then they will tell you how to order. If "yes", then you will get the menu to order.

My favourite items at Nandos is the grilled chicken with 2 side orders. They are either

Five chicken wings with garlic bread and coleslaw

or
1/4 chicken with spicy rice and chips with peri-peri salt

and Wild Herb Peri-Peri sauce - That's hot

I enjoy dining at Nandos. The food is hot and tasty and service is very good. Highly recommended.

Pizza Express vouchers are like fish bait for customers

ShareThis
Pizza Express is a leading pizza restaurant. Pizza Express offers authentic Italian cuisine, including tasty thin-crust pizzas and pastas, using only the freshest ingredients. Grab a Pizza Express voucher to get the biggest discounts and hottest special offers. That's a bait to attract your attention.
This is how the strategy works

Every week and on internet there are offers. Like Pizza Express 2for1 plus starter on Weds, 4 Pizzas for Only £20 at Pizza Express or 2 pizzas for £ 12. The offer that I got was printed on the back of the Cinema Ticket. Offer clearly indicates, it is not valid for take away orders.

    From 20100207 iWaant
    •  Up-sell
Upselling is a sales technique whereby a saleperson induces the customer  to purchase more expensive items, upgrades, or other add-ons in an attempt to make a more profitable sale. Upselling usually involves marketing more profitable services or products, but upselling can also be simply exposing the customer to other options he or she may not have considered previously.
The waitress will start with - Can I get you some drinks ? Then starters. Then when you ask whether you can use the offer voucher. She replies, "Of course".... It is big, loud, clear and with a smile.  You think, I have to make most of the offer. You start ordering more since at the back of your mind you have already made savings on the main course.
After you finish your food, the waitress asks, "Would you like to look at the dessert menu ?". You think and say, "Why not ?" And you order your dessert.
    • Service with a smile
The waitress will serve you with a smile. You never realise. that you are paying  more  than what you  initially calculated since you are enjoying a perfect dining experience.

Finally, when I looked at my bill, I had made a savings of £ 7.00 but I ended up ordering a lot more than I initially thought. To be precise £8.95 + 10% tips.

    From 20100207 iWaant
Just to let you know, Pizza Express is a great place to the take the family for good food at a great price.

Three simple sales techniques you can apply in your business that you can make money.

    1. Find out what attracts your customer. Offer them a bait to come to you.
    2. You have to give them options and help them to decide.
    3. No matter what, provide service with a smile. You have remember, it is not food they are paying for - it is the dining experience. That's what will bring them back.

Egypt holidays Nile Cruise Must see life experiences

    ShareThis
National Geographic Traveler: Egypt, 3rd EditionThe 3,000-year-old head of Amenhotep III - grandfather of Tutankhamun - was dug out of the ruins of the pharaoh's mortuary temple. A colossal red granite head of one of Egypt's most famous pharaohs has been unearthed in the southern city of Luxor, according to BBC.

Egypt has vast treasures buried somewhere, estimated to be around 65%, of what is seen today. I had been to Egypt on Luxor to Oswan Nile Cruise with Thomas Cook and it was a fascinating experience.

During the tour, I saw the monuments, architecture and Egyptologist explaining the history of Egypt and times of Great Paroah Ramses II, I often wondered
    • How did they erect massive monuments at that time ? They built temples but no palaces for themselves.
    • Ancient Egyptians did not have concept of death, so they mummified people to go next phase (Valley of Death). How did they master the technology of mummification ?
    • What tools did they use to build these monuments as it apparent that their architecture is far superior than anyone at the time.
    • They performed temple rituals and worshipped their Pharaoh as god.
    • How did the ancient civilisation remained buried under the sand for centuries till it was discovered in 18th century.
    • Ancient Egypt Civilisation science is currently being studied by archaeologists around the world. The religion, rituals are lost forever. Chinese and Indian civilisation still continue to practise the religion what they had thousands of years back.
    • In some places where the temples were discovered, people living on the top of it before the sand was excavated.
In 1974, Egyptologists visiting Ramses II tomb noticed that the mummy's condition was rapidly deteriorating. They decided to fly Ramesses II's mummy to Paris for examination.  Ramesses II was issued an Egyptian passport that listed his occupation as "King (deceased)". The mummy was received at Le Bourget airport, just outside Paris, with the full military honours befitting a king. See National Geographic

I would highly recommend you to visit Egypt once in your lifetime and atleast do a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Oswan.

Places you visit while on Nile Cruise with Thomas Cook

    2. Luxor Temple, Luxor

    5. Temple of Kom Ombo
    6. Abu Simbel Temple - You have to pay extra. Worth visiting
    7. Hot Air Balloon - That's expensive but worth every dime.
Oswan market is place to buy local items, food products and clothes. You will be better off if you know how to haggle. If the shop keeper tell you a price of say Egyptian Pounds 750, you can start with Egyptian pounds 80. And you can buy it for 170 to 190.  So don't feel embarrassed what you are asking for .... it is business. Once you haggle, that means you are going to buy at a certain price otherwise walk out.

The Complete Taj MahalThe Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Will Iceland bank on volcanic ash

      ShareThis

      Iceland (Bradt Travel Guide)

An ash cloud spewing from an erupting volcano in Iceland continues to affect air travel across Europe, forcing the cancellation of thousands of flights as on 16-April-2010. The volcano is still spewing ash and the wind direction is expected to continue bringing clouds into UK and European airspace for some time to come.
Last year, Iceland was on news for collapse of its banking system. • Damning 2,300-page report exposes failings of financial system. • Senior politicians, regulators and bankers all at fault.  • Icesave collapse detailed, with UK regulator's involvement • Baugur and Tchenguiz loans were part of web of cross-holdings

The volcanic ash must have caused more grief than the banking system collapse since people have to cancel their travel plans.  But can Iceland turn this in opportunity since the nature has given a free advertisement to promote its volcanoes. I picked up some pictures from flickr and would plan to visit Iceland in the future.
