Man Woman Relationship in the 22nd Century

ShareThis
Women: A NovelEmancipation is a term used to describe various efforts to obtain equality and more often used to describe for the rights of women and under-privileged. I was reading  a news articles in the Guardian where Elisabeth Badinter says that the French model of motherhood is facing threat from a 'dangerous' new brand of thought which seeks to keep women at home. Ecologists, breastfeeding advocates and behavioural specialists are making women 'slave to their children', says Elisabeth Badinter.

And there was another news item where a vicar has caused outrage amongst his congregation after urging women to "be silent" and "submit" to their husbands.  One female member of the church said she was "disgusted" by Oden's sermon. "How can they talk that way in the 21st century?

So why not put a James Cameron hat and fast forward to the year 2154 and visualise what it would be like then. The objective would be to make people live to the full extent irrespective of their gender.
  • Human Husbandry: In the 21st century, there is a science called Animal Husbandry which focuses on stock breeding to raise live stocks. The science of animal husbandry is taught in many universities  and colleges  around the world.  In 22nd century, the science of human husbandry would take precedence over animals as there would be an effort to find technique to reproduce the best humans in the world using laboratory techniques.
  • Human Terms: Some of the terms may be know as 21st century terms. Like 'Parents' will be replaced by 'donors',  'home' will be 'cell', 'Maternity Ward' will be "Generation Next', 'Dinner' will be 'capsule diet' and  'family' will be 'environment'. The word 'love' would disappear and 'Valentine's Day' will only be a movie.
  • Full Life: In the 21st century, people mourn about the first half of their life being spoiled by parents and second half by their children. Or too much time and money is spent on Match.com or mothers have to sacrifice their careers to bring up their children. May be in the 22nd century, everything will be outsourced. The procreation activity will be outsourced. Government will make efforts to find the best 'donors', produce offsprings in the laboratories and raise them in 'generation next'. Men and Women will have personal freedom and time to pursue their own career and life in their own 'cells' without any responsibilities of being parents.
My visualisation is just a projection of how technology will be shaping the way we live and influence our behaviours. Live-in relationships have been accepted as the way of life  in the 21st century and the word 'bastard'  is widely considered pejorative, especially because of its informal meaning, which refers to 'people thought to be obnoxious'.
Elisabeth Badinter and Angus MacLeay, rector of St Nicholas Church are today on opposite sides of the spectrum but they don't take into account the impact technology will have on peoples' lives and relationships.
